Emanuel Church Hall ECHO

Project Brief: The existing youth and community centre which was within the churches grounds could no longer cope with all of the activities and services offered and as well as being re-furbished required some additional floor space and office accommodation to satisfy its needs.

Funding was obtained and the project commissioned by the Church, the brief was to create a building which while not being a pastiche of the neighbouring Church building had to reflect the local vernacular.

All works had to be undertaken with minimal disruption to the activities of the Church and the community centre.

Project Summary:

A Forticrete stone material was selected by the Architect to reflect the existing fabric of the church but a more contemporary style of extension utilising curved elevations and a flat roof to wrap around the existing community centre was designed.

The building was completed on time and within budget and provided the additional accommodation required in a style that complimented the neighbouring buildings.

Once completed the building was officially opened and blessed by the Archbishop of York.
